Primer on Restrictions & Policies

FieldX offers a wide collection of control and security restrictions that let you control and manage your devices better. Setting up device and app restrictions features on the work managed devices reduces distractions and improves the security. Controlling the device settings and restricting access also prevents third-party apps from accessing corporate data and resources.

The term Restrictions refer to controls and policies that an organisation want to apply on all or a set of devices. There are more than 100+ restrictions can be applied on devices.

Important Fields in Restrictions
  1. A Global Restriction, of order one, is the default set of restrictions applied to all the devices. E.g. By default disable factory reset for all devices.
  2. Any other restriction created by the user can be selectively applied to one or multiple groups.
  3. Each restriction should have a unique order field. Order is any arbitrary number that is used to sort the restrictions internally. Lower ordered restrictions are overridden by the higher ordered ones.
  4. All the restrictions are divided in various categories based on the functionality.
  5. Each Restriction expects either Dropdown or Text entry. The description under each restriction provides what format data is expected in case of text entry
Deleting restrictions will NOT reverse the applied restrictions from the managed devices. If restrictions have to be removed from the devices make sure you edit restrictions first and configure all the applied settings with the ‘Do not Apply’ option

Please refer individual articles for using restrictions more efficiently.
